Introduction to the Spokesman Group

Introduction

In 2010, a group called Spokesman was formed to be the official representatives of the WPHD HOG® Chapter. The Spokesman members were recruited from the Chapter membership and represent the demographics of the Chapter’s make up of men and women of varying ages, lifestyles, and riding backgrounds. All were chosen with close attention being paid to attributes such as outgoing personality traits, positive attitude, and high ethical standards.

As Chapter representatives, Spokesman are a new member’s “first impression” of the Chapter. Each month, Spokesman personally call new members, inviting them to attend Chapter meetings, introducing them to other members, showing them what the Chapter has to offer, and welcoming them as new members by introducing them to the entire Chapter at the beginning of the meeting.

Spokesman are assigned “Special Projects” such as the planning, coordination, and implementation of the 2011 Million Mile Monday event. This project was designed to be an all-inclusive ride with routes of varying distances to be within reach of all riding capabilities of the Chapter membership from beginner to advanced. With four separate options to choose from, the event was extremely well attended and highly successful.

As representatives of the Chapter, the Spokesman act as the eyes and ears of the Chapter, soliciting and listening to member comments, both positive and negative, and communicating those feelings to the Chapter Director and Board of Directors. All Chapter members are encouraged to seek out Spokesman if they have issues, good or bad, that need attention. This continued focus serves to improve an already excellent HOG® Chapter.

Spokesman meet monthly and are visible at Chapter events by the orange braided cords they wear on their left shoulder.
